Introducing Auburn Chiropractor Dr. Alan Ludwig

The Chiropractor To See In Lakeland

Why did I become a chiropractor? I was not one of those individuals who had an amazing recovery from some terrible condition through chiropractic care. I have two cousins, Drs’ Brian and Dennis Long who are chiropractors and they encouraged me to look into it. In January of 1974 I began pursuing an Associates degree at Palmer Jr. College in Davenport, Iowa. After earning my Associate in Science degree I began classes at Palmer Chiropractic College. About a year after I started the chiropractic program my cousins told me of a new chiropractic college in Marietta, Georgia that had a vision and fire that they had not seen at Palmer. After visiting the college I understood what they were talking about. Shortly thereafter I transferred to Life Chiropractic College. I graduated from Life in June of 1979 with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree.

I interned with Dr. David Butters in Seattle and eventually opened a practice in Bonney Lake in 1981. In 1989 we moved back to the Midwest for a while to be near family. During that time I was on faculty at Palmer Chiropractic College teaching one of several spinal adjusting technique classes. In 1993 we returned to open a practice in Bonney Lake again. I must admit it was great to see a lot of familiar faces.

In 2002, when we saw the construction going on in Lakeland Hills for the new shopping center we saw it as a great opportunity. I never would have dreamed that twenty years ago when my son and I rode our dirt bikes up here that I would have an office on this very spot.

We continue to live in Bonney Lake and my wife, Jackey and I have been married 35 years. We have three wonderful grown children, actually six when you consider their spouses, and currently two really cute grandkids.

When it comes to my own health I’m not going to tell you that I do all the right things. I exercise but I should be more consistent. If it were not for my wife and her great cooking I would not eat enough vegetables. I do make conscious choices to greatly limit unhealthy foods (Bryers Natural ice cream qualifies as health food). I don’t believe in extremes in diet but rather ‘moderation’. For the most part I do my best to walk the talk. I am under regular chiropractic care, usually three to four times per month. I take the same Shaklee vitamins and Nordic Natural Omega-3 fish oil that we have available for our patients. I don’t take prescription drugs and have probably only taken an aspirin or cold remedy 5 times during my 29 years in practice. I believe this health style is why I am rarely sick. This is not just a concept or belief system; it is a way of life that works. Additionally, my wife, children and grandchildren are also under chiropractic care. All three of our children and both grandchildren have had their spines checked for nerve interference within hours of their birth.

Dr. Ludwig Asks some important questions of interest to Auburn residents - Chiropractor Auburn Dr. Ludwig Asks...

Can babies with colic be helped with chiropractic?
It's probably one of the times a parent feels the most helpless. But based on the research, chiropractic and colic relief appear to go hand in glove. With success rates in the mid-90% range, more and more Auburn parents are seeing a chiropractor. If you have a baby with colic learn how chiropractic may help.
What controls every cell, tissue and organ of your body?
DNA? Wrong. Immune system? Wrong? Hormones? Wrong. It's your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body. When a chiropractor sees a Auburn patient with say, stomach problems, we want to know why the brain is unable to properly control and regulate the stomach. Which prompts us to examine the nervous system—the focus of chiropractic care.
